DEADLINE: May 28, 2014 Would you like to join a platform to improve the role of science in international policy decisions? The Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES; www.ipbes.net) is a global program intended to strengthen the role of science in decision-making related to the conservation and sustainable management of biodiversity and ecosystem services.
To promote this science-policy interface, IPBES is seeking scientists for expert groups. The U.S. government and IPBES welcome contributions from a broad multidisciplinary community of natural and social scientists. ESA and IPBES are currently soliciting nominations for the following expert groups: 1. Scoping of a set of regional and sub-regional assessments These assessments will examine the status and trends of biodiversity and ecosystem services and their impacts on human well-being. 2. Scoping of a thematic assessment of land degradation and restoration This scoping group will identify the necessary topics and priorities to be included in a possible future assessment addressing land degradation and restoration.
