Colleagues,

Every year, the Vegetation Section of the Ecological Society of America
awards the Ton Damman Award to the best oral presentation by a graduate
student (or very recent graduate student) at the ESA meeting. The cash award
is $500.

Information about the award is given below (some of the data on the web
sites is out of date, due to problems with the web site). If you are a
graduate student or know of a graduate student who is interested, please
pass this message on to them.

There are two very important points I want to emphasize:

1) You *must* notify the Section secretary, Loretta Battaglia (email address
given below), by JULY 15TH, that you are applying.

2) To qualify, the talk must be about VEGETATION SCIENCE (aka PLANTS). Talks
that don't focus on plants will not be considered.

If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to contact me.

Regards,

James Moore
Chair, Vegetation Section
