Position: Graduate Research Assistant (Ph.D.)

Location: Texas Cooperative Fish & Wildlife Research Unit, Texas Tech 
University, Lubbock, Texas

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for developing 
and conducting research that provides information to assess the effects of 
varied streamflow levels, as regulated by water releases from upstream 
reservoirs, on habitat use and reproductive success of Blue Sucker in the lower 
Colorado River, below Austin, Texas. The specific research objectives are to 
describe movement and habitat use under various experimental releases via radio 
and acoustic telemetry, determine the timing and extent of use of spawning 
habitats in relation to streamflow and temperature, and evaluate the effects of 
streamflow on recruitment and age-0 habitat use.

Qualifications: M.S. in fisheries, ecology or related field. Strong GRE scores 
and GPA. Valid driver’s license and ability to conduct field work. Experience 
with radio telemetry and/or population estimation/modeling a plus.

Salary: $18,000-20,000 plus benefits and tuition and partial fee waiver
