Postdoctoral Position: Native bees, habitat restoration and pollination

Neal Williams Lab, University of California, Davis

Sustainable pollination of crops in North America will likely require
integrated approaches using wild pollinator communities, managed native
species and managed honey bees. Strategies to support these pollinators
within agricultural landscapes include planting forage resources and
augmenting nesting opportunities for wild species, assessing the interactive
influences of local and landscape context and developing spatially explicit
predictive models of bee populations (supply) to help determine actions that
will best promote pollination service (demand). Our lab is part of a
national project (ICPbees.org) exploring specialty crop pollination across,
crop types and regions. We are working on the above strategies using
fundamental ecological research and translation of this to practical
application.

The successful postdoc will join this project and a vibrant research
community in ecology, entomology and sustainable agriculture at University
of California Davis.

Requirements

· Doctoral degree in ecology/biology, entomology or related
disciplines.

insect community ecology, field research experience, as well as a good
publication record.

· Excitement to initiate new research projects, collaborate in
existing projects, help supervise students and contribute to an active
research group in insect ecology and pollination.
