Herpetologist Naturalist Guide
Legends of the Wild, a new tour company specializing in remote
wildlife expeditions, is looking for a few exceptional naturalist
guides to lead multi-day trips in the rainforests of Guyana,
Surinam and French Guiana with a specific focus on herpetology.
Legends of the Wild is currently organizing similar expeditions in

These positions would appeal particularly to wildlife biologists
seeking funding for ongoing field research.
As we will be starting with a small portfolio of trips, these
positions will initially be part-time in nature. We would envisage
approximately 4 to 8 expeditions per year at the outset.
Basic Qualifications:
University degree in Biological or Environmental Sciences with
significant course work and/or field experience in Herpetology.
Thorough working knowledge of and contacts in the rain forest
habitat in one or more of these locales (French Guiana, Guyana, Surinam).
Strong interpersonal, communication and people skills.
Passion for wildlife exploration and education.
Fluency in English.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced reptile-handling skills.
Strong interest in locating and identifying wildlife species for
photo opportunities and educational discussions.
Standard First Aid certification and CPR.
The ability to remain calm and collected under unpredictable and
stressful circumstances.
Physical Requirements:
Applicants should be in sound physical condition, capable of
rigorous outdoor activity. Must be capable of hiking in rugged
terrain for full workdays.
