Call for Abstracts: Papers and Posters

The joint SE-EPPC/GA-EPPC Conference provides an excellent opportunity for 
students and 
professionals working in research, management, or control of Invasive species 
in the Southeast to 
share their ideas and to present the results of recent studies. Topics can 
include invasive species; 
biodiversity & climate change; funding opportunities; development of invasive 
plant listing criteria; 
green industry partnerships; pathways; recreation & tourism impacts; ecology; 
agro-ecology; genetics; 
impacts of invasive plants; cooperative weed management area/CISMA; early 
detection/rapid 
response; K-12 education; adult education; working with volunteers; economics; 
management; 
restoration; risk assessment; policy & regulation; or interdisciplinary 
projects.  Abstracts must be 
submitted by October 1, 2014 to: www.se-eppc.org/2014/abstractsubmission.html   
  

Guidelines for paper presentations:

Presentations will be limited to 20 minutes (allow  3-5 minutes for questions). 
LCD projectors will be 
provided. LCD presentations must be made using PowerPoint software. Macintosh 
users should ensure 
that their presentations will function properly in a Windows environment. 
Overheads and slides are 
not acceptable. Please copy your presentation onto a CD-R (not CD-RW) or USB 
flash drive that is 
labeled with your last name and title of the talk. Before the start of your 
session, give your 
presentation (in the form of a CD-R or USB flash drive) to the AV assistant. 
There will not be time to 
copy the files once a session has begun. An AV person will be on hand to 
assist. DO NOT bring 
presentations on a CD-RW, zip drive, or super disc.

Guidelines for posters: 

Posters should be 40 inches tall by 60 inches wide (100 cm by 150 cm). Poster 
display boards, easel, 
push pins, and tape will be provided. If you require a table for pamphlets, 
brochures, or other display 
items, please indicate this on your abstract submission. Posters must be in put 
into place by the first 
day and stay up for the duration of the conference. Poster authors are required 
to be present at their 
stations for one hour during the designated Poster Social to answer questions.

Student Poster Award

A team composed of representatives from each of the SE-EPPC state chapters will 
judge student 
posters based on scientific merit, poster design, and poster discussion with 
the judges.

First place - $150
Second place - $100
Third place - $50

All student posters will be eligible for consideration  as long as the abstract 
is submitted by 
September 30, 2014.  Check the box indicating you are a student on the abstract 
submission form.
