Dear colleagues,

The next ASLO Aquatic Sciences Meeting will be held between 22-27 February 2015
in Granada, Spain. We are hosting session 116, called "Impact of microbial
biodiversity on aquatic ecosystem functioning and biogeochemistry" and would
very much like you to participate. We hope to bring to together both modelers
and observationalists working on this exciting topic to share the most recent
progress in the field.

Please note that the deadline for abstract submissions is 10th October 2014
(http://sgmeet.com/aslo/granada2015/).

Looking forward to a great meeting in Granada!

Session description: In most aquatic ecosystems, microbial diversity is
immense. This incredible biodiversity raises fundamental questions about the
role and impact of diverse microbial assemblages on ecosystem functions and,
more broadly, on biogeochemical cycles. The session will bring together both
experimentalists and theoreticians from a range of disciplines with a goal to
characterize microbial diversity and to identify fundamental links between
diversity and ecosystem functioning. Furthermore, we welcome submissions from
researchers studying the role of this immense diversity in the redundancy of
microbial communities and ecosystem responses to environmental change. We hope
to explore studies that utilize novel culture, field, and/or modeling
approaches to address these questions.
