University of Wyoming Extension (UWE) – Position # 5044. This is an Assistant, Associate or Senior University Extension Educator, non-extended term track position. The position will be appointed as an Assistant, Associate, or Senior University Extension Educator, non-extended term track with an initial three-year appointment. This is a full-time (12-month) position with a 100 percent Extension appointment. The position reports to the Director of UW Extension. Appointment, rank and salary will be based on academic credentials and professional experience. *Location Description* UW Campus – Laramie, Wyoming or USDA ARS Rangeland Resources Research Unit in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Location will be at the discretion of the incumbent. *Nature and Purpose* The position will coordinate the extension education, technology transfer, engagement and public outreach efforts of the USDA-Northern Plains Regional Climate Hub (USDA-NPRCH) with the six state extension services in the region. In addition, the position will serve as a UW Extension specialist with a programmatic focus on adaptive management to enhance decision-making related to extreme weather events and variability to increase the resiliency of agricultural enterprises and natural resources. *Responsibilities of the Position* The position will provide regional leadership to the development, delivery and evaluation of extension educational programs focused on extreme weather events and variability in growing conditions for agricultural production and natural resource management in the Northern Plains region. The region includes six Extension programs (Montana State University, University of Wyoming, Colorado State University, North Dakota State University, South Dakota State University and University of Nebraska). This position is responsible for transferring the technology, research outcomes and science-based knowledge of the USDA-NPRCH to the public through relevant educational programs and effective engagement. The coordinator will establish working partnerships with Extension specialists, Extension educators, climatologists, agriculturalists, researchers and agriculture and natural resources organizations in the six state region to forward the educational and technology transfer objectives of the USDA-NPRCH; namely, to enhance the awareness and decision-making capacity of agricultural producers to reduce enterprise risk and increase resilience of working lands. The coordinator will also gather input from stakeholders to identify critical issues, relevant education/research needs, and appropriate program delivery strategies. As a UWE Specialist, the individual in this position will lead UW efforts to develop comprehensive educational and applied research programs in the areas of weather related aspects of enterprise risk and working lands resilience for Wyoming.
