Ecologgers,

Our lab is shopping for a portable leaf area meter to use on small-
leaved prairie plants. We tested the CID CI-202 portable laser leaf area
meter and found that, for finely divided or very narrow leaves, results
were quite sensitive to leaf orientation on the scanner (and differed by
+/- 15% compared with areas measured on a non-portable LICOR leaf area
meter). We're now considering the LICOR LI-3000C, but are open to other
suggestions.

We'd greatly appreciate recommendations or advice from folks who have
experience with any portable leaf area meter. Please send your response
to [email protected]

Many thanks,
Julie
