I’m excited to announce that registration is open for Unearthing Citizen
Science, a free webinar hosted by the National Academy of Sciences this
Friday December 5 at 12 pm EST.

The webinar will explore the role and potential of citizen science in
advancing the earth sciences, from monitoring unconventional hydrocarbon
development to predicting, mitigating, and increasing public awareness of
natural hazards.

Speaking at the webinar will be Muki Haklay, Professor of Geographic
Information Science at University College London and director of the UCL
Extreme Citizen Science group; David Applegate, Associate Director for
Natural Hazards at US Geological Survey and Susan Brantley, Professor of
Geosciences at Pennsylvania State University. The webinar will conclude with
a Q&A session with the speakers.
