CONFORWest 2015

February 5th - 8th,

Friday Harbor Laboratories, UofW

Friday Harbor, Wa., USA

Call for submissions

CONFORWest is an annual conference for graduate and upper level undergraduate
students from environmental sciences, forestry, ecology and other natural
resource management fields. It is organized by graduate students from
northwestern North American universities, who hope to provide a unique and
comfortable forum for discussing future challenges, while building networks
with peers. We're students too!

We hope to expose graduate students to varying perspectives on environmental
and forestry research from outside their disciplines and to encourage
meaningful dialogue between students of different research backgrounds.

Unlike other conferences, our main goal is to facilitate discussion while
giving students a chance to practice their communication skills.

Abstract Submission Information

You are encouraged to submit an abstract for a presentation in any area of
academic study related to the environment or natural resources, from social to
biological fields. There will be 3 types of presentations: poster, 5 minute
oral, and 15 minute oral. For the 5 minute presentations, slides will change
automatically every 20 seconds, and each presenter will be allowed 15 slides.
This is a challenging but achievable format and proved to be very effective
during previous CONFORWest conferences. Please indicate your presentation type
preference with your abstract submission. Research projects that include
results and discussions will be favoured when selecting oral presentations.

General guidelines

Your abstract should include: (1) study’s objectives, (2) methodology, (3)
results and (4) significance, if applicable. When using abbreviations or
acronyms, please spell them out first. Please indicate up to four keywords
below the abstract. Note that the keywords should be general enough to help us
organize all the presentations into thematic sessions.

The following information should also be included on separate lines before your
abstract in your submission.
