The primary responsibility of the GIS Analyst is to develop and maintain 
geospatial datasets in support of agriculture- and natural resources-based 
economic development in the state of South Carolina. The GIS Analyst will 
create datasets from tabular data, derive datasets based on geospatial 
analysis tools, and coordinate with third-party data providers to gain 
access to relevant data.

We are looking for someone with expert proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS for 
Desktop software. Strong GIS vector/raster analysis and model building 
skills; Spatial database design and development experience; Python software 
development for GIS automation and custom geoprocessing; Experience 
publishing maps and related content via web-based GIS portals (e.g., ArcGIS 
Online or ArcGIS Portal); Statistical analysis background, including 
geostatistical techniques (e.g., Kriging, Kernel Density); JavaScript web 
programming; ArcGIS Server administration; Enterprise geodatabase 
administration (Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server);Image classification and 
analysis. ArcGIS Server publishing (e.g., Map, Feature, and Geoprocessing 
services).

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: A bachelor's degree in geography or a related field 
and work experience in the development and maintenance of geographic 
information systems; or an associate degree in geography or a related field 
and expert-level work experience in the development and maintenance of 
geographic information systems.

PREFERRED IN ADDITION TO THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Graduate degree 
(agriculture related, natural resources, or equivalent) and experience or a 
bachelors degree with significant related experience is required.

Background in Agriculture and Natural Resource production/economics. 
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work with 
stakeholders
