*A CALL FOR STUDENT PRESENTERS FOR THE* *Front Range Student Ecology Symposium*
*“From Mountains to Main Street”* *Abstracts and Photo submissions due Friday January 23, 2015 by 5pm MST online* http://ecosym.ecology.colostate.edu/abstracts_form.php Dear Students: *You are invited to participate in the 21st Annual Front Range Student Ecology Symposium at Colorado State University, February 24th-25th, 2015!* Organized by students, for students, this event provides a supportive atmosphere for undergraduate and graduate students alike to present their current and future projects in any stage of development. We encourage you to seize this opportunity to practice science communication amongst your peers. We will have students from multiple disciplines sharing posters and oral presentations about their current or proposed ecological research. The symposium is modeled after a professional society meeting and will also include guest speakers, networking and socializing opportunities, a photo contest and a catered awards reception with prizes. We are pleased to announce that the keynote speaker this year will be Dr. Diane Pataki <http://bioweb.biology.utah.edu/pataki/pataki.html>, Biology Professor at The University of Utah in Salt Lake City. Her research focuses on the role of plants and soils in human-dominated urban ecosystems. Her recent work looks into the immediate and long-term challenges to sustaining urban and natural ecosystems based on a changing climate and population pressure. Currently, Dr. Pataki is also serving as a Program Director at the National Science Foundation. If you would like to participate in the symposium, *please **submit an abstract* <http://ecosym.ecology.colostate.edu/abstracts_form.php>* (~200 words) summarizing your project or a **photo entry* <http://ecosym.ecology.colostate.edu/gallery_contest_form.php>* to the **FRSES website* by 5pm on* Friday January 23rd, 2015*. The theme for this year is "From Mountains to Main Street," but any of your related work in ecology is welcome. We look forward to seeing you on February 24th and 25th, and CSU students should note that we are working with the Grad Showcase to make sure you can submit your work to both events.
