Dear Ecolog: Many of you filled out a survey in June 2013 (see original details below), providing your opinion on the support available to postdocs in ecology. The survey was followed by a workshop at the ESA 2013 meeting where we discussed possible solutions to issues that postdocs face. Thanks again for your contributions.
The results from the survey and workshop are now out in this month's issue of the ESA Bulletin: Allison K. Shaw, Daniel E. Stanton, Sarah R. Supp, Amber Budden, Stephanie Eby, Pamela L. Reynolds, Roberto Salguero-Gómez, Daniel R. Scholes, and Naupaka B. Zimmerman 2015. Ecology Postdocs in Academia: Primary Concerns and Possible Solutions. Bulletin of the Ecological Society of America 96:140–152. http://dx.doi.org/10.1890/0012-9623-96.1.140 One of the direct outcomes was the creation of the ESA Early Career Section (http://esa.org/earlycareer/). Please consider contributing to the Early Career Section fund when you renew your ESA membership and register for the 2015 ESA meeting. --------------- Subject: [ECOLOG-L] Soliciting responses: survey on postdoctoral stage in ecology Date: Tue, 25 Jun 2013 04:19:48 +0000 Dear Ecolog: We invite you to fill out a survey, providing your opinion on the support available to postdocs in ecology. We are looking for participation from current, former, and future postdocs about what societies like ESA and ecologists as a community can do to improve the postdoc experience. The survey is available here: http://tinyurl.com/ecopds Responses from the survey will help guide discussions of WK 50 ("Getting though the Postdoctoral Phase to an Academic Job") at ESA this August. The survey takes approximately 10 minutes to complete and responses are completely confidential. Please pass this on to anyone who self-identifies as part of the ecology community, who may be interested in completing it. Whether you fill out the survey or not, we invite you to attend our workshop at ESA. Feel free to email [email protected] or [email protected] with any questions. Thanks in advance for your participation.
