I am now spending a great deal of time editing documents for students and faculty whose first language is not English. Most of these clients are Asians at Cornell, but I will work on documents for clients of any nationality. I edit papers they write for class, statements they write to apply for grad school and for faculty positions, and papers they intend to submit for publication to an English journal. I edit documents in all fields. Recently, I edited a paper in economics, which just got published by the Korean author in the Journal of Mathematical Economics, and I have edited papers in engineering, nanofabrication, statistics, plant pathology, city and regional planning, and more. Clients simply send me their document as an email attachment, I edit it in MS Word using Track Changes, and return it, usually within 48 hours. I charge $40 per hour for this service.
Most documents take less than three hours to complete, unless they are unusually long. My clients pay me by sending me a check or depositing money in my PayPal account, which is very simple to do. Also, if the client wants to send me their document, I can provide an estimate of how long it should take me to complete the job. As I edit, I also try to suggest ways to improve their writing in English generally. I can provide references from recent clients, if that is desirable. So, if you think this is valuable, please pass the word along. Dr. Thomas A.
