Snakebites are major public health concern in Central America. Annually in Panama there are 2800 reported cases; many others go unreported as people live in remote areas without ample health care facilities or still practice traditional medicine. We are working to reduce the number of snakebites and the intentional killing of snakes in Panama and Costa Rica through an education program. We aim to distribute copies of our bilingual book The Venomous Snakes and their Mimics of Panama and Costa Rica and coloring sheets, in addition to giving talks about how to co-exist with snakes. We have set up a crowdfunding site to help us raise money to get copies of the book distribute to local residents. Please consider checking out our page to see if there is anything you can do to help.www.gofund.me/dh9p8c Thank you very much! Dr. Julie M. RayDirectorLa MICA Biological StationEl Cope-La Pintada.
