Internship and Education Program Manager, Environment for the Americas

Environment for the Americas (EFTA) is a non-profit organization located in Boulder, Colorado. EFTA works to improve awareness of migratory birds and their conservation, to motivate education programs about birds, birding, and bird conservation, and to engage diverse audiences in its own activities and in activities hosted by other organizations. EFTA coordinates a hemispheric bird celebration, International Migratory Bird Day, that is hosted at over 700 sites from Canada to Argentina and the Caribbean by developing an annual bird conservation theme, an art piece that illustrates the theme, education materials, and opportunities to participate in art programs, international exchanges of bird-focused materials, and more.



EFTA is also responsible for developing the Western Hummingbird Partnership , a trinational effort that supports research and education about the conservation migratory hummingbirds and for facilitating communication, a small grants program a website, social media and more among an advisory committee, grantees, and the hummingbird conservation community. EFTA collaborates with over five federal agencies and many other non-profit organizations.



The Program Manager will use his/her knowledge of and experience with Latino culture to provide leadership and management for EFTA's education and internship programs, working with federal agencies and other non-profit organizations in the United States and elsewhere in the Western Hemisphere. This program is one of the few that works to train underserved youth, especially Latinas/os, provide them with field research, education, and interpretation opportunities, mentor them during their internships, and review resumes and job applications. The Program Manager will recruit, train and supervise college-aged interns, manage project budgets, assist with EFTA's special events in Colorado and outside the state, and participate in hosting education programs, fundraising, and much more. This is a position for an enthusiastic, energetic person who likes to be involved in the diverse activities of a growing organization. Some weekends and evenings, and travel will be required.



This position will be based in Boulder, Colorado. Review of applications will begin immediately. The position will remain open until filled.



Responsibilities

* Oversee EFTA's Diversity Internship Program, including recruiting, interviewing, and selecting interns, collaborating with host sites, communicating with partners at host site, and assisting with budget management, participate as a member of EFTAs professional team by collaboration on new project development, proposal writing and fund raising, represent EFTA's mentoring programs at national and international meetings, verbally and in writing;
   *  Supervise interns in the Boulder office;
* Prepare and deliver education programs to public and specialized program audiences; * Attend conferences and workshops and host an EFTA table/booth at these events; * Represent the internship programs using social media and other techniques; * Assist in program planning, proposal development and fundingraising activities;
   * Undertake other activities as needed and assigned.

Qualifications

* Bachelor's (Master's degree preferred) or equivalent experience in Community Organizing, Environmental Education, Biology, Avian Research, or related field;
   *      Experience in program planning and coordination;
   *      Excellent organizational, writing, and verbal communications;
   *      Experience using social media;
   *      Excellent computer skills;
* Ability to plan, delegate and organize the work required to meet the overall objectives; * Native Spanish fluency (written and verbal) and knowledge of Latino culture;
   *      Knowledge of and/or interest in community-based conservation;
   *      Valid driver's license;
   *      Experience with bird-focused programs helpful, but not required.
