There are two research assistantships available through Wilfrid Laurier 
University’s Forest Ecology 
Lab (www.forestecology.ca) and the Taiga Plains Research Network 
(www.taigaplains.ca) as part of an 
ongoing partnership with the Government of the Northwest Territories 
(http://www.wlu.ca/research/LaurierNWT). We are looking for two motivated, 
energetic individuals to 
contribute to ongoing research projects in sub-arctic forest and tundra 
research sites in the 
Northwest Territories. 

Research assistantship details: 
- Duration: Three months (late May – late August)
- Locations: Trail Valley Creek, NWT (north of Inuvik) and Yellowknife, NWT
- Salary/travel: In addition to a modest research assistant stipend, travel 
between Waterloo, Ontario 
or a comparably priced departure point and the field site(s) will be provided 
and food and 
accommodation while in the field will be provided. 
- Tasks: contribute to graduate student field research projects at the two 
sites. 

Qualifications
Interested individuals should have the following general qualifications:
-       Be enrolled in or have completed a science-based university or college 
program.
-       Fluency in English
-       Experience camping, preferably in more remote settings
-       First aid and firearms training required at time of employment
-       Valid driver’s license
