Graduate Student Position in Species at Risk Biology. The Wetland Plant Ecology
Research Group and
the Plant Biodiversity and Conservation lab in the Department of Biology at
Wilfrid Laurier University
are seeking a highly motivated MSc student to contribute to our research into
the Biology and Ecology
of Sida hermpahrodita – an endangered plant in Canada. The position will start
this summer. A broad
training in plant biology with experience in areas of plant ecology, plant
identification and statistical
analysis is preferred. Research will involve a strong field component so you
must be willing to work
outside in the presence of insects/spiders during hot (Ontario) weather.
Fieldwork will be
supplemented by controlled growth room/greenhouse experiments. Current research
on S.
hermphrodita is focused on understanding interactions with native and
non-native species,
mycorrhizal associations and population dynamics. A valid drivers license and
clean driving record are
required.
