Those of you who participated in the project Alex organized in Sacramento last summer will be interested to hear about a similar project in Baltimore at the ESA's 100th anniversary meeting in August.

ESA Conference
* We have a website: <http://www.earthstewardshipinitiative.com/>www.earthstewardshipinitiative.com. Spread the word by posting a link on your school or organization's website or a blog post to increase our visibility and searchability online. We can provide a short description to attach along with the link. * Research Fellows: We are now soliciting ESI Fellows (see attached flier). * ESA Conference Center Planning: Working with the ESA staff, we've identified locations for activity spaces in the convention center. We will include community contributions, history, cultural aspects of neighborhoods and sites, art installations, as well as displaying the studio's deliverables. * Abstracts: Submitted for the ESA ignite, oral, and special sessions this past month. Thanks for your contributions Dumbarton Oaks Landscape Studies is working with us through Mellon Funding to support the Special Session on cultural landscape studies as part of the conference activities.

Engaging Baltimore
* Ongoing studios: UVA, UMD, and Penn State are actively investigating the sites selected for the summer project. * EXD Workshop: Despite the snow, we had a productive Experimental Design workshop (EXD) on March 6th. We developed a conceptual design that integrated urban successional landscapes with educational aspects of differents grades and social/recreational needs of the students. Participants included: Yale, BES, Parks and People, the Francis Scott Key school Principal, landscape architecture students and faculty from UMD, Mahan Rykiel, and Biohabitats. * Community Engagement, Outreach and Education: This is a key component of the ESI. We plan to actively engage students interested in community-based ecological design with communities associated with the ESI sites.
