The Nature Conservancy in Georgia is seeking a motivated seasonal technician to 
join the field staff working on the Chattahoochee Fall Line near Columbus, 
Georgia.  Focus of the Chattahoochee Fall Line Project is on restoring the 
longleaf pine forest ecosystem on lands degraded by past agricultural use, 
long-term fire exclusion, and conversion to pine plantations.  The technician 
will work with one or more field staff to complete a variety of ecological 
monitoring and forest restoration tasks.

Duties:

  *   ·         Establishment of permanent monitoring plots in a range of 
forest conditions

  *   ·         Collection of vegetation and forest fuels data

  *   ·         Assisting with prescribed fire activities, including 
establishment and maintenance of containment lines, prescribed fire operations, 
post-fire mop-up and monitoring

  *   ·         Assisting with the maintenance and security of conservation 
land owned and managed by The Nature Conservancy

Work period: June – December

Compensation: $14.50 /hour (35-40 hrs/week), plus housing will be provided at 
no cost.

Location: West-Central Georgia (Marion County)

Preferred Qualifications:

  *   ·         Associates or Bachelor’s degree in natural resource management, 
ecology, environmental biology, or environmental studies

  *   ·         Experience collecting and managing field data

  *   ·         Field experience working on invasive species control or trail 
maintenance

  *   ·         Wildland/prescribed fire experience and training at the Type 
II-level
