For those of you have followed La MICA Biological Station, located in the
mountains of central Panama, you know that we (myself and the people from the
surrounding communities) have built a research facility starting with a
donation of just $1 and with the most common donation being $10. Now, in our
6th year, we have accomplished amazing things. We have built a dormitory,
lecture area, and bathrooms, we have a 15-passenger van, we have assisted local
people by buying their remote plots of land for restoration, and we welcome
students, researchers, and tourists from around the world. Moreover, we employ
the local people, many from impoverished families.  This has helped to keep
families together, reducing the number of people, especially fathers and eldest
sons, who must go away to work at the strip mine or in the city.
With our recent remodels and given that this is the time of year when we have
our fewest visitors as many people are in university classes right now, we
could use a little help to keep our project moving forward.

We dedicate every dollar raised directly to the project, improving our
facilities and maintaining operations, including the hiring of local people.
We sincerely thank everyone who can chip in a few dollars to keep us advancing.
Thank you.
