Responsibilities and duties of the aquatic research ecologist include: taxonomic identification of stream and wetland invertebrates to the genus level, organic matter and chlorophyll a sample processing in the laboratory, and field work including electrofishing. The selected individual will also assist with data entry, data analysis, (secondary production calculations), and manuscript writing. Applicants must have academic coursework in aquatic entomology, invertebrate taxonomy, ichthyology, and professional experience identifying eastern invertebrate and fish taxa to the genus level. The selected person must be willing to relocate to Grand Rapids, MN. He/she must also be a licensed driver, willing to travel overnight for up to a week at a time, and able to drive 4WD vehicles. Applicants must be able to hike in rugged terrain, streams, and rivers, with a backpack weighing 35 lbs, tolerate biting insects and ticks, and work in variable weather.
