Visiting Assistant Professor of Biology (Cell & Molecular or Microbiology)

Antioch College seeks a broadly trained cell & molecular biologist for a 
Visiting Assistant
Professor position in Biology starting September 1, 2015. This position lasts 9 
months (3
quarters, Fall, Winter, Spring), with an option to extend an additional quarter 
(Summer 2016)
or to begin early (Summer 2015). Candidates must have a Ph.D. in cell & 
molecular biology,
physiology, microbiology, or a closely related field; expertise in cell & 
molecular biology
preferred. ABD candidates will also be considered. Evidence of successful 
teaching
experience in cell & molecular biology and/or general biology at the 
undergraduate level is
preferred. 

Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to rigorous undergraduate
education in a liberal arts environment and an ability to develop innovative, 
interdisciplinary
courses in biology. Candidates should be prepared to teach within an 
undergraduate liberal
arts curriculum dedicated to linking theoretical knowledge to experiential 
learning. Salary is
competitive and commensurate with experience.

The most compelling candidates will be able to develop and teach 2 classes 
(with labs) per
quarter in biomedical science, including general biology 1&2, genetics, 
microbiology,
molecular/cellular biology, anatomy and physiology, and possibly an 
intermediate or upper- 
division special topics course that compliments our existing curriculum. The 
expected
teaching load may be adjusted by class size and curricular needs. Interested 
candidates may
also have the opportunity to contribute to organizing and leading team-taught,
interdisciplinary, thematic Global Seminars. These themes include water, food, 
energy,
health, education, and governance. The biomedical science curriculum serves the 
curricular
needs of general education and two science majors. Course descriptions are
