Hello everyone,La MICA Biological Station, located in the mountains of central
Panama, still has 2-3 openings for interns this July. Our program provides an
opportunity for students and recent graduates to gain experience in the
Neotropics. The program is not just limited to biology students, but we also
have hosted immersion Spanish, history, art, and sociology students. This
summer's program is running in July and August. Interns are arriving to Panama
City either on 29 June or 01 July and we pick them up the following morning. We
assist with arrangements for the hotel in Panama City and transportation from
the airport.Interns are staying for 3-6 weeks and each will conduct a small
research project. University credit can be arranged. There is also much
opportunity to experience the local language (Spanish; prior knowledge not
required for internship) and culture. There is a weekly fee of US$75 paid to La
MICA in advance of your arrival to help us prepare for and and manage your
visit. Interns manage their own food by cooking at La MICA or supporting local
restaurants (~US$2/meal).If interested in joining us this summer, please email
Dr. Julie Ray by responding to this message. More details can be provided at
that time.Thank you and we hope you will join us this summer. Dr. Julie M.
