hi all,

we are chasing length-weight regressions for 8 species of mammal in the
mid-west region of north america.

specifically, we have recorded both shoulder height and total body length for
the following species, and we would like to estimate wet mass.

Eastern Gray Squirrel
Fox Squirrel
White-tailed Deer
Opossum
Deer mice
Armadillo
Coyote

we certainly dont require species-specific regressions, but at the moment we
are using very general regressions listed by:

J. Prothero. 1992. Scaling of bodily proportions in adult terrestrial mammals.
American Journal of Physiology - Regulatory, Integrative and Comparative
Physiology 262 (3) R492-R503

these general equations seem ball-park for most of our species, except our
estimates of the mass of white-tailed deer seem a little lower than expected.

thanks in advance for any leads!

tony
