School of Geography, Planning and Environmental Management The School of Geography, Planning and Environmental Management is a vibrant, multidisciplinary School with extensive teaching and research programs covering the fields of Geography, Environmental Management, Planning and Occupational Health and Safety Science. The School has just under 100 staff, including 40 academic, 25 research and 19 professional and technical staff. There is a growing contingent of research appointments and the School has been active in establishing a range of adjunct positions in order to promote engagement with leaders in government and the professions. The role The School is looking for two teaching and research academics who will be be actively engaged in research, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and postgraduate supervision. The successful appointees will further develop the School's Environmental Management program while developing and strengthening their own research program. Depending on the expertise of the successful applicant, appointment may be either at Lecturer, Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor level. The person Successful applicants must posses a PhD in the field of Environmental Management, or a closely related discipline. They should also have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding in one or more of the following areas: applied conservation planning and management, climate adaptation and environmental management, decision making and management of complex systems, social aspects of environmental management. Candidates research interests will link with one or more of the core disciplinary fields within the School and the must have evidence of contributions to research, including peer-reviewed publications in leading multi-disciplinary journals and successful external research grants. An understanding of environmental management in the context of biophysical, economic and social systems and the ability to implement innovative teaching and learning strategies that foster critical and strategic thinking will also be required. Remuneration There are two full time, continuing positions available at Academic Level B, C or D, depending on qualifications and experience. Level B: The remuneration package will be in the range $86,853.37-$103,138.09 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $101,618.44 - $120.671.56 p.a.). Level C: The remuneration package will be in the range $106,395.00-$122,679.72 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $124,482.15 - $143,535.27 p.a.). Level D: The remuneration package will be in the range $128,107.95-$141,136.21 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $149,886.30 - $165,129.36 p.a.).
