Dear colleagues, We are organizing a session related to using satellite data for global/regional crop monitoring. We welcome your submission to our session.
The detailed information of our session can be found below, and the link: https://agu.confex.com/agu/fm15/preliminaryview.cgi/Session8482. ---------------------------------------------------------- Session ID#: 8482 Session Description: Earth Observations (EO) from satellites provide timely and objective monitoring of crop distribution and growth at regional and global scales, and also facilitate crop modeling and yield forecasting. The Group on Earth Observations Global Agricultural Monitoring (GEOGLAM) Initiative is an international activity that promotes the utilization of EO data for crop monitoring by addressing gaps in national capacity, by improving availability of, quality of, and access to satellite data, and by fostering operational research and development of ‘best-practices’ for agricultural monitoring. In this context, this session invites abstracts from national and international colleagues alike regarding the development of tools and methodologies to enhance the use of EO for regional and global cropland and rangeland monitoring. This session will particularly highlight monitoring methodologies and applications which utilize multi-sensor satellite data (SAR, fluorescence, microwave radiometry) and data fusion technology, as well as focus on transitioning research to operations.
