Postdoc available on macroecology of fungal diversity

We are seeking to recruit a motivated post-doctoral fellow to explore
macroecological patterns of fungal diversity. The candidate will be expected
to analyse diversity patterns of fungal communities using spatial and
phylogenetic techniques to explore questions about the drivers and
consequences of fungal diversity. The candidate should thus have an ecology,
phylogenetics and/or bioinformatics background. The work will be conducted
in a collaborative team comprising members of the Centre of Excellence in
Tree Health Biotechnology in the Forestry and Agricultural Biotechnology
Institute (FABI, http://www.fabinet.up.ac.za) and the Department of Plant
Sciences (http://www.up.ac.za/plant-science) at the University of Pretoria,
South Africa, where expertise in mycology, plant pathology, metagenomics,
phylogeny and spatial analyses at macroecological scales are housed.

The successful candidate would be required to start by the end of 2015.

The University of Pretoria is one of Africa's leading research institutes as
measured by the quality, diversity and extent of its research outputs. The
University offers a supportive and pleasant working environment, which,
together with the world class capacity in facilities and expertise at FABI
and the Department of Plant Sciences, makes it an ideal place to explore
these questions.' Interested candidates should contact Bernard Slippers
([email protected]) or Michelle Greve ([email protected]). For
more information on the experience of being an international postdoc at the
University of Pretoria, Dr Martin Kemler ([email protected]) can
be contacted.
