The Biology Department at Carthage College invites applications for a
tenure-track position in Biology with a focus on Ecological Sciences starting
August 2016. The successful candidate will teach courses in Introductory
Ecology and the Introductory Biology sequences as well as upper level biology
courses based upon their area of expertise. Applicants are required to have a
PhD in Biology with a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching

The Carthage Biology Department is housed in a newly expanded and renovated
science center that includes more than $1.5 million in instrument and equipment
investments. The College offers small class sizes, start-up funds for research,
and the opportunity to work closely with undergraduates in both the classroom
and laboratory.

Founded in 1847, Carthage combines an environment of reflection and
self-discovery with a culture of high expectation, so that our students uncover
and ignite their true potential. As a four-year private liberal arts college
with roots in the Lutheran tradition, we place a strong emphasis on both moral
and intellectual values. Our prime location in Kenosha, Wisconsin, midway
between Chicago and Milwaukee, allows students the opportunity to learn in a
professional context. Our beautiful campus, an 80-acre arboretum on the shore
of Lake Michigan, is home to 155 full-time faculty, 2600 full-time students,
and 900 part-time students. Our rich academic experience equips students with
foundational knowledge and skill, preparing graduates to be lifelong learners,
and to lead meaningful, productive lives.

Interested candidates should submit a single PDF file including a cover
letter, curriculum vitae, statements of teaching philosophy and research
interests, and the names and contact information of three professional
