Applications are invited for a permanent position as a research scientist in the area of *forest insect ecology *at the Atlantic Forestry Centre (AFC) of the Canadian Forest Service – Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), in Fredericton, New Brunswick ( http://www.nrcan.gc.ca/forests/research-centres/afc/13447). In collaboration with scientists at AFC, other NRCan forest research centres and universities, the successful candidate will investigate the ecology of Canada’s major forest insect pests and contribute to the development of ecologically-based integrated pest management strategies. The spruce budworm will be a primary focus initially but other research opportunities will arise over time. The successful candidate will have a PhD in entomology or a related aspect of insect ecology, with demonstrated productivity in the form of authorship in peer-reviewed journals, and experience in designing, conducting and analyzing experiments to improve our understanding of the relationship between population processes and environmental factors (including climate). Proficiency in English is essential. Persons residing in Canada and Canadian citizens residing abroad may apply but preference will be given to Canadian citizens.
