The following projects are offered through the University of Salzburg in
Austria.

We are offering three projects conducting research on influence of
forest management on the biodiversity of macroinvertebrate and protist
communities in water-filled tree holes in three regions of Germany –
Schorfheide-Chorin, Hainich and Schwäbische Alb. The project is
connected with the Biodiversity Exploratories (http://www.biodiversity-
exploratories.de/1/home/). Work will be conducted on previously
established artificial tree holes. There are three possible projects and
students would ideally work together in the field and independently
conduct their lab work.

1. Macroinvertebrate colonization in artificial water-filled tree holes
2. Influence of forest management and detritus on insect biomass
3. Colonization and seasonal influence on protist communities

Work will primarily be conducted in the lab, though some field work will
also be necessary. The individual will need to be hard-working,
physically fit and have a flexible schedule. Furthermore the candidate
should also have an interest in invertebrate identification and data
analysis. Projects are based on work that was conducted in 2015 but
there will be room for development with your own ideas.

Ideally the project will begin in the spring of 2016. If you are
interested any of the above mentioned projects, please send a letter of
motivation and CV to Anastasia Roberts: [email protected]. Further
information can be found here: https://petermannlab.wordpress.com/
