I've recorded a CD of ecological/evolutionary/natural history songs. The CD
has twelve original songs ranging from concepts (speciation, interspecific
competition and the niche, foraging theory, natural selection, schooling,
taxonomic hierarchy) to species (rat snakes, short-tailed shrew, northern
cardinal, brook trout, red fox) to habitats (piney flatwoods blues). The CD
comes with a lyrics booklet and if the students learn the lyrics they have
a good understanding of the concepts/information. The songs are all
original and professionally mastered and produced. My objective here is to
teach students in ecology/conservation biology/natural history classes
using a more pleasing and innovative format. My recent paper (
http://naturalhistorynetwork.org/journal/articles/the-use-of-original-music-videos-to-teach-natural-history/
) on the use of songs in class indicates student attitudes towards both
class and studying were significantly improved via use of the songs. My
goal here, besides making good music, is that the CD could be used as an
accessory "text" for appropriate classes. The price for US sales, at
$12.50 plus tax/shipping is very reasonable. Contact me for international
sales.. Single songs or a digital download (songs only) are available on
