The Urban Ecosystem Ecology section of the Ecological Society of America has established the Joan Ehrenfeld Award for best student presentation in urban ecology at the annual ESA meeting. We need to raise $3500 by next September to make the award permanent. We would be so grateful if you would consider making a donation of any size this holiday season to honor Joan's memory through this award.
This past summer at the ESA meeting in Baltimore we had 27 students apply for this award (a record number)! Sixteen faculty and ecology professionals volunteered to judge their talks. The award committee was blown away by the presentations and fascinating research of the finalists, it was truly inspirational. And a very fitting tribute to Joan's legacy! If you would like to make a donation, here are the details: Checks can be made out to the "Ecological Society of America" with "UEE- Joan G. Ehrenfeld Award" in the memo and sent to: Ecological Society of America 1990 M Street, Suite 700 Washington, DC 20036 ESA acknowledges all donations with a thank-you letter that outlines the tax exemptions. Please feel free to contact me personally with any questions. Myla Aronson [email protected]
