The University of Maryland, College Park Libraries is pleased to announce an
opening for an Agriculture & Natural Resources Librarian.

The Agriculture & Natural Resources Librarian reports to the Head of the
Engineering and Physical Sciences Library (EPSL) and manages a combination of
duties and expectations. The incumbent serves as the liaison librarian for the
College of Agriculture and Natural Resources and is based in EPSL which serves
several colleges and schools, including the College of Agriculture and Natural
Resources, the A. James Clark School of Engineering, and the College of
Computer, Mathematical and Natural Sciences. Along with other liaison
librarians, the Agriculture & Natural Resources Librarian is in a key position
to help the University of Maryland Libraries radically define new roles for
subject librarians, including through the development of a Science Commons in
support of the information needs of researchers. The Agriculture & Natural
Resources Librarian is expected to be closely integrated through the entire
educational and research process at the University of Maryland and collaborate
in a Libraries-wide vision to help shape new approaches to faculty/library
relationships.

An MLS degree from an ALA-accredited institution of higher education or
international equivalent at time of appointment; or an advanced degree in
agriculture or related discipline at time of appointment is required. For the
full list of responsibilities and qualifications, please go to

The University of Maryland Libraries serve more than 37,500 students and 4,200
faculty at the University System of Maryland's flagship campus and constitute
the largest university library system in the Washington D.C./Baltimore area.
The University of Maryland Libraries share the teaching, learning and research
goals of the university. Recent membership in the Committee on Institutional
Cooperation, a robust organization of Big Ten member institutions, is
particularly meaningful to the University Libraries and will further propel the
university's ascendancy in academic excellence.

Position is appointed to Librarian Faculty Ranks as established by the
University System of Maryland Board of Regents. Rank at appointment is based on
the successful applicant's experience and relevant credentials. For additional
