The Department of Biological Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences at Nicholls State University invites applicants for a tenure-track position (nine-month appointment) in molecular and cell biology at the assistant professor level. We seek a scientist with a Ph.D. (including postdoctoral or academic experience), that has a proven record of publishing, teaching, and grantsmanship. Experience in molecular biology, cellular biology, bioinformatics, genetics, or related fields is preferred. The anticipated start date for this position is January 2016.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain a nationally/internationally recognized and externally funded research program relevant to molecular and cellular biology, and to mentor undergraduate and M.S. students in academics and research. In addition, he/she will be expected to conduct undergraduate instruction in molecular and cellular biology and general biology, and develop or renovate undergraduate courses as directed by the department head, and develop a graduate-level course related to his/her research. University faculty are expected to provide service to the department, college, university, and profession. Proven ability and willingness to collaborate in a multidisciplinary setting is desired.
