Hello,

I am a Masters student in the process of designing a thesis project and
subsequently submitting a proposal for a graduate program. The topic is
related to Larval Fish Ecology in Tidal Freshwater Systems. I have been
scouring the web for information on the latest research being done on
this topic for the last 4 months (not 24/7 of course) but still have
much work to do.

Clupeids are most likely the only family that I will be focusing on as
they have been the dominant taxa in the tidal freshwater marsh (Curles
Neck Creek) located in Virginia and tributary of the James River.

I have two things to ask:

1. Can anyone recommend, preferably recent, resources such as
books, journal articles, literature reviews, or similar studies that in
one way or another provide information that can help me get a better
sense of the overall current direction, status, methods used and/or
major questions trying to be answered in the field of larval fish
ecology in tidal freshwater systems.

2. If you are an experienced/expert in Ichthyoplankton research in tidal
freshwater systems or any aquatic system for that matter, I would love
to talk to you further about the subject as a whole and listen to any
advice you may have on designing a project like this. I can give more
specifics into the project if needed to obtain the best advice. I have
an adviser but why limit yourself to one source of help when you can
gain insight, advice and/or help from multiple people who share similar
research interests. (Isn't that the idea behind ECOLOG-L).

***I have already been working on this subject for the past 4 months and
have done my fair share research and field work so this is not a plea
for help to lessen the work for myself. I have never designed a project
on my own and want it to be something of great value that could
contribute to the field of research so I am using every resource
possible***

Thank you to everyone who make ECOLOG what it is today.
