Community Ecology Field Intern
Position Available (April 1-May 31 2016)

I’m a postdoctoral researcher, at the University of Montana, conducting a study 
at the 
Sierra Foothills Research and Extension Center (SFREC), Browns Valley, CA, and 
I am 
looking for a volunteer or two to help with some sampling this spring. The 
project focuses 
on evaluating the role of small mammals on the composition of annual grasslands 
and how 
similarity between the traits of native and exotic species may influence the 
potential for 
small mammals to provide biotic resistance to plant invasions.

Specific Duties:
The volunteer intern would help in sampling plant composition, individual plant 
traits, and 
environmental resources. 

Requirements:
•       Valid driver’s license
•       Good communication skills
•       Good physical condition (be able to kneel for extend periods of time)
•       Ability to work with minimal supervision
•       Field botany skills preferred but not required
•       Work will require staying at the SFREC bunkhouse (room and board 
provided)
•       Minimum 2 week commitment
