We seek a research technician for an applied marine ecology study
investigating fish and invertebrate community structure along estuarine
shorelines in NC. The two-year study will determine how fish utilize
different shoreline stabilization structures like bulkheads, revetments,
and marsh sills. The study will also quantify erosion protection provided
by different structures and investigate how they perform during hurricane
events. Technician duties include extensive field surveys (vegetation,
elevation, and fish) throughout the state of NC, sample collection, sample
processing, gear maintenance, and data management. We will also be
conducting experimental manipulations in large mesocosm tanks, and
preference will be given to candidates that are interested in and/or have
the skills to build experimental set-ups and catch the fish to go in them.

ecology career. Familiarity with statistical analysis using R and
experience with ArcGIS are a plus, as well as any experience with science
communication and/or film making.
