These PhD opportunities are part of the Dean's Doctoral Initiative (https://uwaterloo.ca/environment/future-graduate-students/phd-initiative) that provides funding for 30 domestic (Canadian or permanent resident of Canada) PhD students to start in September, 2016.
I am looking for qualified and highly motivated individuals to pursue a PhD in ecosystem service management or conservation planning to join my lab. Potential research projects include but are not limited to: 1) Afforestation in southern Ontario: climate change effects, mitigation and ecosystem services. 2) Managing ecosystem services from private lands as shared resources: application of social-ecological systems theory. 3) Effects of organizational communication and social networks on the spread of private land conservation practices. 4) Urban forests: Ecosystem service provision and trade-offs. Funding for 4 years of PhD studies are guaranteed.
