POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE POSITION AT FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY
EVERGLADES TRACE GAS FLUXES

A multidisciplinary team of researchers studying the carbon balance of 
Everglade wetlands is seeking 
a highly motivated POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE with interests and expertise 
in 
micrometeorological measurements of trace gas fluxes.  The candidate would be 
working on a 
recently-funded collaborative project between the labs of Drs. Steven F. 
Oberbauer (Florida 
International University) and Gregory Starr and Christina Staudhammer 
(University of Alabama) in 
association with the Florida Coastal Everglades LTER that expands on a 
long-term study of carbon 
dynamics within Everglades National Park. The postdoctoral scientist will be 
based at Florida 
International University in Miami, Florida.  The ideal candidate should have 
experience in eddy 
covariance techniques, including tower operations.  The candidate should also 
have experience with 
QA/QC of large data sets, R or SAS programing skills and familiarity with 
Campbell Scientific data 
loggers and their programing.  Research will be conducted in Everglades 
National Park in 
collaboration with the University of Alabama and.   The candidate should also 
have the ability to work 
outdoors in tropical conditions.  Specific responsibilities will include 
managing eddy covariance 
measurements, participating in ecosystem modeling, helping with chamber-level 
measurements of 
carbon exchange, and taking the lead in key project publications.  The 
candidate should hold a Ph.D. 
in biophysics, plant physiological ecology, micrometeorology or related fields. 
A driver’s license is 
required, and boating experience highly desirable.  Applicants interested in
