Dear colleague, As part of the Permafrost Carbon Research Network we are leading a synthesis intended to quantify how ecosystem characteristics influence permafrost stability. Ecosystems can buffer against permafrost thaw in areas with relatively warm air temperatures, and also facilitate permafrost degradation in areas with very cold temperatures. Ecosystem characteristics are therefore necessary for complete understanding of future permafrost conditions. To this end, we are soliciting data contributions from colleagues conducting research throughout the Arctic and subarctic.
Specifically, we are seeking observations of air and soil temperatures, along with key information on vegetation, soils, and other related ecosystem characteristics. If your data meet the criteria outlined in the submission form and can be included in the analyses, you will be included as a coauthor on the resulting publications. Additionally, we may be able to provide you with high-resolution commercial satellite imagery for your site. If you are willing to participate please submit your data using the form at this link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6- 3O0YY6HJiQ3Q4OXVHYnRuVUk/view?usp=sharing Should you have any questions please contact Mike Loranty ([email protected]) or Heather Kropp ([email protected]). Best, Mike Loranty Heather Kropp
