Sterling College and the Rian Fried Center for Sustainable Agriculture &
Food Systems (RFC) invite applications for a year-round, full-time faculty
position, with a focus on livestock & grazing systems and agroecology,
beginning in August 2016.

Candidates are expected to have a deep commitment to hands-on experiential
education, and as such are expected to have considerable livestock and
grazing management experience as well as significant teaching experience.
Teaching assignments will include several of the following classes:

   - Livestock Systems Management
   - Agroecology
   - Grazing Management
   - Animal Science
   - Whole Farm Planning
   - and/or other courses consistent with the needs of the program,
   including the possibility to develop curriculum in Global Field Studies.

Preference will be given to candidates who can also teach Ecology in the
core curriculum.

At Sterling College, student to faculty ratio is 8 to 1. All faculty
members contribute to student advising, and facilitate personalized
education of undergraduates including mentoring independent studies and
senior projects. This faculty member will work in a highly collaborative
and interdisciplinary environment, and participate as an active member of
the Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems Instructional Team,
contributing to farm design and management.

The RFC is the instructional laboratory for an experiential and
place-­based education that integrates the kitchen, farm, and forest to
build the practical skills and critical thinking capacities of our
students. The Center aspires to model site­-specific, size-scaleable and
regionally adaptable agroecosystems, which enhance nutrient cycling and
support the biodiversity of species and genetics, while increasing the
socioeconomic viability of communities.

The successful candidate must hold a Masters or PhD in an agricultural
science or a closely related field. The position is open until filled, but
priority will be given to applications received before *March 20th,
