Graduate Student Assistantship 

We are seeking an outstanding student to pursue a Master’s of Science or PhD
in Environmental Studies with a concentration in Conservation Biology,
Sustainable Development and Climate Change, or Environmental Education. The
student would be based in the Department of Environmental Studies at Antioch
University New England in Keene, NH.

The student’s assistantship would place them at the intersection of
scholarship and practice as they coordinate research and educational
activities on Antioch University New England forest properties. Antioch’s
two forested properties of 74 and 46 acres are within ½ hour drive of the
main campus. These properties are ideal outdoor classrooms for student
learning. The student manger will coordinate and lead outdoor educational
walks, promote use, and coordinate all research activities following the
goals and objectives of the management plans.

The successful applicant will receive a grant of $5,000/yr renewable for 2
yrs if an MS student, renewal for 3 yrs if a PhD student.

Applicant Eligibility
- The successful applicant will coordinate the management, research and
educational activities on Antioch’s forested properties under the
supervision of AUNE Forest Director, Peter Palmiotto.
- The ideal candidate should be interested in land conservation, management
and education and be interested in conducting applied projects that inform
land management, conservation, or educational strategies for University and
surrounding properties.
- The ideal candidate is interested in studying any of the following topics:
wildlife ecology, human ecology, watershed or forest management, ecosystem
processes, educational applications, landscape connectivity, or a related field.

Students interested in any aspect of applied ecology and conservation are
encouraged to apply as part of their application for admission to the ES MS
or PhD degree programs. We ask candidates to describe how this position will
enhance their academic goals at AUNE as a supplement to their ES admissions

The selected student is expected to enroll at Antioch University New England
