*Description*

The Department of Biology at Clarkson University has a graduate Teaching
Assistantship beginning in August 2016 available to a full-time student
interested in pursuing a PhD in either Interdisciplinary Bioscience &
Biotechnology (IB&B) or Environmental Science & Engineering (ESE).  The
Teaching Assistantship includes a generous 12-month stipend that is
eligible for annual renewal based on satisfactory performance as a teaching
assistant in the Department of Biology and a tuition waiver.


The successful applicant’s dissertation is expected to focus on the REASON
project (http://www.clarkson.edu/ise/great_rivers1/index.html), a high
resolution water quality sensor network being constructed on the St.
Lawrence River, which will form the basis of their thesis dissertation. The
student will gain valuable training and experience in Great Lakes limnology
and the use of emerging technologies used for assessing the impact of a
changing environment on water quality.


*Qualifications*

To be eligible for consideration, students must be accepted to either the
Interdisciplinary Bioscience & Biotechnology degree program in the
Department of Biology or the Environmental Science & Engineering program in
the Institute for a Sustainable Environment at Clarkson University as a
full-time student, with approval of the REASON project supervisor,
Professor Michael Twiss.
