Spaces are available for two botany workshops being offered in Isle Royale National Park (located in western Lake Superior) this summer by the Isle Royale & Keweenaw Parks Association.
June 6-11: Rock Harbor (most easily accessed by ferry from Houghton, Michigan). September 6-11 Windigo (most easily accessed by ferry from Grand Portage, Minnesota). These special botany workshops are open to anyone with beginning/intermediate knowledge of plant identification who would like to learn to identify plants of Isle Royale. You’ll learn to use such tools as a dichotomous key and hand lens to identify plants. Plant communities, rare species, ecology, and invasive species will be discussed. Workshop registration fees include instruction, round-trip ferry transportation, meals, and group camping.
