Dear Ecolog-Listers: I thought finding hits for the food of adult (wasps) *Sphex pensylvanicus* (note, no double "n" although the state of Pennsylvania has a double "n") would be easy. Well, not so far.
On the web, there are many mentions of feeding on nectar, fewer on pollen (by *S. ichneumo**neus*), and a site that mentions that they actually eat the same species of katydid they use to provide for the larvae. However, when I look for primary references in Google Scholar, the hits (thus far) are scanty. If any of you know from the top of your head a good published source, I will appreciate getting the reference. [email protected] Gratefully, Jorge Jorge A. Santiago-Blay, PhD blaypublishers.com 1.
