The lab of Andrew Nelson in the Department of Forest, Rangeland, and Fire
Sciences at the University of Idaho is looking for a seasonal field
technician to assist with data collection in forests across the Inland
Northwest, including northern Idaho, northeastern Oregon, northeastern
Washington, and western Montana. The position will require travel during the
work week to field sites and may require overnight camping. The technician
will have the opportunity to assist with the following projects: (1)
improving health and productivity of western larch stands, (2) biomass
partitioning of shrubs and other non-tree vegetation in relation to tree
seedling growth and survival, (3) effects of site quality and seedling
quality on tree survival, and (4) effects of elevation, distance from
streams and stand dynamics on forest growth-climate relationships. Work will
be in collaboration with the US Forest Service Rocky Mountain Research
Station and various other federal and state agencies, and private forestland
owners across the region.

Preferred start date is either May 23 or June 6, 2016. The job will be based
in Moscow, Idaho. Housing in Moscow will not be provided. Housing will be
provided during fieldwork at the Priest River Experimental Forest.
