Marek Landscaping, LLC is a design-build company founded in 1996 that provides sustainable design & construction services using low-impact design methods for native aquatic, riparian, upland, and woodland restorations, shoreline stabilizations, stormwater and erosion control best management practices, multi-use trails, parks and landscapes. We also develop and implement land management plans for these projects ensuring long-term health and viability. Current projects include bluff, shoreline, and wetland restorations for large public projects, non- profits, and private residences.
We are currently seeking a Field Ecologist to: • Conduct aspects of native habitat restoration projects, including: o Tree and brush cutting and removal. o Planting, seeding, soil preparation, and erosion control material installation. o Invasive plant species control. o Prescribed burns. o Monitoring, surveying, or sample collection. • Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment safely and efficiently on a daily basis. • Track and record labor hours for timesheet submission. • Operate or be willing to be trained on the operation of skid steers, compact excavators, tractors, power tools, and other specialized equipment. • Work independently and as part of a team, following instruction from Restoration Foreman. • Occasionally participate in landscaping hardscape and softscape projects. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s in ecology, natural resource management, environmental science, biology, or related field. • Effective communication and strong time management skills. • Capability to work long hours during the field season in various outdoor conditions, including heat, humidity, cold, and rain or snow. • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. repeatedly through an entire work shift. • Knowledge of local plant taxonomy in Southeastern Wisconsin. • Valid driver’s license and access to personal vehicle preferred. • Wisconsin Pesticide Applicator License or ability to obtain within first month. • Prescribed fire training (S-130, S-131, S-190, 2-290, S-234) or ability to obtain within one year of hire. • Class A CDL license with tanker endorsement or ability to obtain license within 6 months of hire. • Agricultural background a plus. • Wetland delineation experience a plus.
