One of five section managers in the Natural Heritage Division, this position is responsible for management of at least six soft money-funded Data Specialist, GIS Specialist, Landscape Ecologist and Conservation Planner staff. This position is responsible for pursuing project funding and managing projects that are supportive of the Natural Heritage mission to "conserve Virginia's biodiversity through inventory, data management, land protection and stewardship". This work includes oversight and management of projects using Biotics, a biodiversity conservation-focused database system; management of the Virginia's Conservation Lands Database; predictive habitat species modeling work; developing, revising, maintaining and supporting partner use of the statewide ConservationVision models; and the development of various other as-needed analyses and data-based assessments to guide strategic conservation planning.
